The device is aimed for protection of switchgear cabinets of electric substations 0.4-35kV in the event of a short circuit in them, followed by an open arc.
Device using radial fiber-optic sensors (FOS) captures the infrared light flash from the electric arc and generates a trip signal (or signals) interrupting supply voltage to the switchgear and blocking signals of automatic “on” retry and automatic switchover to backup (if necessary).
The scope of application of the device is electric substations of power companies, power supply facilities of the gas and oil industry, plant facilities, metro and traction substations of electrified railways.
The device is designed for continuous operation in unheated premises.
Up to 3 FOS can be connected to the device, for example, the FOS of the breaker cubicle, the FOS from the bus bar compartment and the FOS from the cable compartment.
